The other benefits of this tester are the open circuit and ground detection, and also checking the ground insulation strength, which consists of enameled insulation. There also available digital surge tester, where you can store the wave form of the coils in the memory (digitally), while testing, the stored waveform is called and could be compared with the waveform of the coil to be tested.
